Do you have JOY in your life? If you do have it, is it constant? Can you touch it and feel it OFTEN? Or is it something you have once in a while or even RARELY? I think that many of us feel that JOY is not for us or something that we have a right to experience, but a rarity to have it in our lives most, if not all the time. Recently, I got a visit from a very special bird who taught me that JOY should be one of the most important aspects of your life and that we should have it in our lives ALL THE TIME, not occasionally. The bird in the picture is a Goldfinch that was bright yellow with black wings. The message I got was that JOY is important because time is short. Do what makes your heart sing. Do what makes you happy, no matter if others tell you it can't be done and ESPECIALLY if they don't understand it. Your JOY matters. But how do we bring MORE JOY into our lives? The answer is simple-->>Act on every impulse you have that makes you happy! No matter how large or small (in fact, the smaller impulses usually work better because they are easier to accomplish and take less time). Small impulses like: Calling your friend that you haven't spoken to in quite a while. Taking time to walk in the park with your dog. Having lunch with a friend who needs your guidance. Creating some alone time doing the thing that you love to do (writing, painting, riding a horse) etc. Whatever makes you happy is what you want to do more of. The moral of the story is that so often, we put aside things we would like to do that bring us joy because we have so many other duties that need our attention. Before you know it, months have gone by and you haven't been happy because you haven't carved out some time to do WHAT YOU LOVE TO DO. Stop doing that right NOW! Do what makes you happy at least once per day! Even 15 minutes of pure JOY is better than no Joy at all. So what do you love to do? Carve out some joy time everyday starting TODAY and let me know in the comments what brings you happiness. If you want to Embrace Your Power and learn what your mission and life purpose is, I am having a Retreat at the end of September. Details are coming soon, if your interested in learning more and would like to get on the Early Bird list, send me an email so I can send you the details. Julie

Today I wanted to talk about you and YOUR LIFE PURPOSE.
Honest Question: Are you truly living your life purpose? Your life mission? If not, do you even know what your life mission is? Think about it for a minute, I'll wait. It's OK if you don't know what your life mission is and it's also fine it your not living it. We put so much pressure on ourselves to be perfect and most of us feel like if we don't know what our life mission is by a certain age, then we are sunk and complete failures. That is not the truth. You are right where you are supposed to be and when you are ready, you will begin your life purpose. If you don't know what your life purpose is... Here's a tip: Your life mission should be: Something you LOVE!!! Something you would (and may be currently doing) WITHOUT GETTING PAID FOR IT Something in SERVICE to others Sometimes we look far and wide for answers (outside ourselves), when the answers may be in our hearts. So let me ask you... QUESTION 1: WHAT HAVE YOU ALWAYS LOVED TO DO? If you had one month off right now - how would you spend your time? What is the ONE thing that makes you super happy and hours can go by without you noticing, because your so into doing that special thing/project/being with certain people (or four legged creatures) that you lose track of time? QUESTION #2: IF MONEY WERE NO OBJECT (you are now a Rockefeller), WHAT WOULD YOU DO/CREATE/MAKE or GO THAT WOULD MAKE YOU HAPPY? Where would you spend your time and what makes you happiest? Where would you be all day? QUESTION #3: WHAT ARE YOU SO GOOD AT, THAT YOU EVERYONE ASKS YOU TO HELP THEM WITH X? What can you do that is very easy for you (no ramp up time needed, not much thought or prep work for you), but can be quite difficult for other people? What have you always been adept at doing that is it second nature to you? If you don't know, what do people constantly tell you that your good at. Hint: You must enjoy this activity, sometimes we are good at something but we don't like doing it. This would be something you actually really like to do and you do it effortlessly. QUESTION #4: WHO OR WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE IN SERVICE TOO? Hint: What do you see on TV or in the World that makes you really angry, very upset or sad and you say "Someone has to do something about this!" What moves you? What makes you want to get up off the couch and start to make a change in the World? If you put all of those 4 answers together, you should start to see a clearer picture to finding out what your mission and life purpose is. If you want to delve deeper into finding your intuition or need more guidance around what your life mission is, I am hosting an upcoming Retreat in Connecticut on Friday, Saturday and Sunday - September 29, 30th and October 1st. We are going to be learning and listening to our intuition, working with horses, getting up close and personal with Falcons and Hawks, as well as shamanic journeying and much more. This entire retreat is based upon your empowerment and helping you find and listen to your intuition and your true life mission! More information will be up on the website soon, but if you are interested, please email me and let me know so I can put you on the early bird list. We would love to have you. Julie Welcome to a brand spankin new series that I will be writing about this month. Over the last 6 months, I have gotten a lot of questions around HOW to move forward? Or “WHAT am I doing wrong, no matter what I do I just can’t seem to reach my goals?” Some of the most important topics I would like to discuss will be centered around YOU!
If you want to either make an impact on the World or change your life in ANY area, it’s vital that you change not only your thinking but your MINDSET. This is key and my mottos: CHANGE YOUR MINDSET, CHANGE YOUR LIFE. It’s that simple but it’s easy to say and can be a little more difficult to do because it takes constant work. Some of what we discuss will be a work in progress and won’t be something you fix in one day. But the fun part is that the more you work on yourself, the better your habits will be and the stronger you’ll become. Ready? Let’s go! Today’s topic is regarding your professional life titled: Where I Am Today Does Not Equal My Tomorrow. Now hold on! I know you may be sitting there thinking “This doesn’t apply to me. I’m fine in the professional department”. Really? Here me out for a minute. We are taught that what we “do” and what our profession is, is DIRECTLY TIED TO OUR SELF WORTH. I polled a couple of my friends and gave them two examples and below are the scenarios and their answers. Example #1: Angela is a mogul who owns her own Company, they are in the high tech IT industry and offer cutting edge products to Companies like Google. How would you picture her? The answers I got were: She is wealthy, smart, leading a team of Engineers in a glass office, possibly travelling on a private plane? She would have it all worked out right? Look good, tough, smart and going places. Example #2: Mary is working at Walmart as a greeter part time in the mornings. She is 65 years old and retired and shows up every day on time. What would you think about Mary? The answers for Mary were: Since she is older, she needs the income so she is working at a job like Walmart because she could not get work anywhere else. She may not have many skills and makes very little income (minimum wage). She works part time because she cannot work a whole day without getting tired. Before you read any further, what did you actually think about both scenarios? Be honest with yourself. Here are the REAL RESULTS: In Example #1: Angela is really struggling. On the outside she looks put together, but she recently put on 30 pounds under the stress of her Company not performing as well as others think they are doing. She does have Google as a client, but Google recently told her that if she does not produce a new product soon, she will not be considered for future endeavors. Angela is falling apart financially physically and emotionally. She has sky high bills and she is on the verge of a nervous breakdown because she doesn’t have the man power to give Google what they want. By Contrast in Example #2: Mary is doing very well for herself. She worked all her life as a Nurse and through overtime, stockpiled away a lot of money for her retirement. She only works at Walmart because she did not want a stressful job, and she works part time because she doesn’t need any more than gas money. In truth she has all the money she needs, she just likes to be with people. Quite a different viewpoint than what you originally thought right? Here’s the main takeaway I want you to remember: WE ARE NOT OUR JOBS and DON’T JUDGE A BOOK BY IT’S COVER. If you are doing a menial job today, making minimum wage or less than you want to, the good news is that there is nowhere to go but up. Even if you are making great money but hate your job, it’s time to rethink where you are and what your truly here to do. Your instincts are right, there is more and you were put on this Earth to be HAPPY and to live your LIFE PURPOSE. In the next installment in our series, I will be giving you real life strategies on how you can move from here to there, from being unhappy professionally à to living your life’s mission and LOVING what you do. In the meantime, please remember that YOU ARE NOT WHAT YOU DO – especially if you hate what you are doing. There is light at the end of the tunnel and I believe you can have what you want and be whoever you want to be which includes be a happy human. |
